City BBQ

My Rating:★★★★☆
What a quaint little restaurant! This restaurant is more of a 'counter' service type of restaurant. It is a mix between fast food and a sit down restaurant. I went in and asked the lady if they had a allergy menu or a menu with ingredients. She went into the back and was able to find a menu with the common allergies and all the menu items with and without different allergies.
There were quite a few different choices for dairy free dining! I ended up splitting a half chicken with my sister and went with the fresh fruit. The chicken was really good! I did not use any of the sauces available because I was a bit afraid of using any because of cross contamination, but I probably would have been fine but I did not want to take the chance. Also, I did not eat the bread that was given I do not believe it was dairy free. There were other items, like beans, (I believe) that were OK to eat, cucumber and onions would have been diary free as well. I will be visiting this place again due to the menu with allergies listed and the food was really delicious.

Grand Transverse Pie Company

My Rating:☆☆☆☆☆
We went into this restaurant at about 8pm last night. I was excited to try out a new place to eat. I went in and asked if they had any allergy menu or ingredients list. The girl looked at me like crazy then asked a few other people and was able to only show me a calorie chart. I would have loved to eat something there if it was dairy free but I really didn't want to take my chances so we ended up leaving. I would recommend they get some type of allergy menu or ingredients list for people with allergies.

Allergic to Dairy, Who Me?

Really I said? I could not even entertain the thought of living life without cheese! Lets jump back a bit....
I am 25 single female just starting my dairy free journey. I have been sick pretty much since high school. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia a few years back. I was always sick to my stomach, and about a year ago started having horrible panic attacks. Whenever I ate Velveeta cheese my face would turn bright red and I would feel horrible! My life was out of control. I began staying home and sleeping most of the time. I found A nutrition club here in Indianapolis. The ladies at the club were so kind. One day I began talking to one of them for about an hour and she had thought maybe that I was allergic to dairy.
I was in complete shock even thinking about not eating cheese anymore! It took about 2-3 weeks to go through a dairy detox for me. It was horrible!! If you are going through a dairy detox keep going. I am still learning all the ins and outs of dairy free living but I am loving life! I am feeling amazing have lost weight and haven't had a panic attack since!
My family and I eat out a lot so I am learning different restaurants that have allergy menus and willing to help and would like to let others know!
